Today is the perfect day to be happy.

What would you do if you were told this was your last day on earth.

What would you say if you were told your loved one wasn't going to survive the day.

When I think that this is a very real possibility when I wake up & face each day, it changes things.

It makes me find five minutes to look outside of my window & appreciate the sun, birds singing, the breeze, the simple fact that I am alive and breathing, and that a new day came with the morning light. I suddenly take the time to play with my kitten and puppy to make sure they know they are loved, kiss my boyfriend awake, and appreciate my life and the increible home we have built together.

To think that our lives are fleeting really scares me. It is so hard to find importance in the mundane when there are so many things to go and do with your time. It makes me wish that time would stand still so that I can...

Catch up on those phone calls to friends & family that I never seem to find the time for.

Go on the holidays that I've been dreaming about for years.

Learn the languages, instruments and skills that I have always wished to.

Take the risks my rationality stops me from taking.

I find a little comfort in knowing that the people I love know how I feel about them because I tell them as often as I can. Though I don't think that I could ever truely show them how much I value & cherish having them in my life.

I wish that simply the realisation that our lives are short & priceless would mean that we cease the day everyday and run away from our responsibilities for a time just to check everything off our bucket list at the start of our lives rather than the end.

But in reality, time doesn't stop and work is the necessity to live the life we want to lead. So how do we live knowing that any moment could be our last?

My answer. You have to find balance, fiercly protect your time with loved ones & dare to endulge in the simple beauty this world offers more than just once in a while. Be brave enough to tell people how you really feel about them at every chance you get, or better yet, try to show them. And learn to be a little bit selfish ~ you and your live is valuable!

I hope we can all learn to be happy today.
